Lewis and I stayed at Ubud Village Hotel for the last 4 nights of our epic trip to Bali. It was a relaxing and well decorated hotel in the center of town with excellent hospitality and an unforgettable breakfast.

Location: Ubud Village Hotel is located in the midst of the hustling and bustling Monkey Forest Road but you’d never know it from how peaceful and calm you feel as soon as you set foot inside. I loved that we didn’t need to wait around for a shuttle or book a taxi or rent a scooter to get back and forth from shopping, restaurants and most of the many other attractions in downtown Ubud.

Rooms: Admittedly, the hotel has kind of a weird layout which results in most of the rooms facing each other with a courtyard in between. This doesn’t leave a lot of opportunity for natural sunlight and made the rooms seem kind of dark but there is so much to do around Ubud and on the hotel property itself that it wasn’t that much of an issue since we were hardly ever in the room during the day anyhow.

The room was cool and comfortable with AC and strong wifi. The bed was gigantic and the mattress was sooo comfy and the evening turn down service was a thoughtful touch. The large bathtub and rain shower were great after long days trekking around Ubud.

Also how cute are the decorations they did for Lewis’s birthday? So nice of them!

Food: There are two onsite restaurants at the Ubud Village Hotel: Madu Restaurant, where the breakfast is served, and Maluku Restaurant. We didn’t have a chance to try Maluku but the breakfast at Madu was not something I’ll be forgetting anytime soon. I’m not lying when I say I actually jumped out of bed every morning to get to this breakfast. It was everythinggggg and more.

The dining area is beside the pool and with the vines hanging down I felt like I was eating in a lux restaurant every morning. One of the waitresses, Wulan, was especially so hospitable and always made sure we had enough to eat. The banana pancakes and avocado toast were my favorite things to order but the bread basket is also over the top. Order the Basil Mocktail whenever you’re needing a refresher, if I could’ve I would’ve chugged this delicious drink by the gallon.

Other Amenities: The roofdeck terrace tea and coffee area had a really chilled and relaxed atmosphere and we made a habit of heading up there every afternoon around 4pm for a little pre-dinner pick me up. The pool was refreshing and well maintained and I loved lounging by it after a day of exploring. The hotel also boasts a gym and a spa that we didn’t have time to visit.

Overall: Ubud Village is perfect for people who want to explore Ubud by foot. It’s a great home base if you’re planning on being out and exploring the area for the bulk of the day because you can load up on the delicious breakfast, set off, and then return to a relaxing and comfortable hotel for afternoon tea and a dip in the pool. The hospitality of the staff and the over the top deliciousness of the breakfast is what really set Ubud Village Hotel apart for me.

Thank you Ubud Village Hotel for an excellent stay. As always, all opinions are my own.

Hi! I'm Katie. I’m happiest when I’m exploring new places, lying on the beach or eating fresh foods (and if that were all to happen at once, I’d be set!).
